i forgot
oh and i forgot to tell you that his email is:
jeffballer5091@yahoo.com
in case anyone was trying to get a hold of him that way! Now we're only missing Randi...and those of us that don't check our email!
Jeff Ball's found!
Thanks to whoever got a hold of Jeff Ball. He sent me an email, so I know he's alive. He's looking for an idea of what to do for drylands. Who has thoughts? After our drylands in STL tomorrow, I'll try to post what we did. We're thinking of starting a weights circuit. Although there's only one source of true strength, perhaps some weight lifting wouldn't hurt! I'm falling asleep at my computer. Mary Ann and I will hit the pool tomorrow morning to test out some of our new stroke drills! More on that later! Much love to you all and thanks for all of your hard work. Charlie, you're doing a fabulous job posting those workouts!
Love you all!

cramped lane...
team, Jamie again...wasn't sure whether Mols or I were going to post this, so i'll just slip it in real quick
in attendance this aft: richard III, ashbash, flava, linz, ben-jammin' and yours truly
900 swim warmup, every 4th lap drill
10 x 50 kick on 1:10 (60 sec just wouldn't work wth 6 ppl in the lane)
10 x 100 pull, no paddles, breathing 3-5-7-5 on 1:30
4 x 25 UNDERWATER, kick down swim back on :60
8 x 150, dr/sw by 25 on 2:30
8 x 75 kick w/fins on 1:20
20 x 25 on last person: 1-drill, 2-build, 3-fast, 4-easy
6 x 50 on :55 warm down
5100 yards total. Some of us varied/dropped the distances a bit...as Molly said before, confined space makes things interesting. But on the whole, a good prac...looking forward to MA and jenny coming down the next 3 days.

team, ryan
whats up!!!!!! well i miss you all damn it, i wish you could all just come to CT and live at my house to hang out and train with me .. right! :)
way to keep up the hard work! really though its great to see all this work getting done...
damn chuckles that looks like a killer practice today. my USS team is so damn crowded in the pool its getting annoying to swim with them, i think im finidng more motivation just by swimming alone and thinking of you all
tomorrow im going to rock the 4 hour adult lap swim durring the day and hammer out our dry land before i get in the pool. hopefully the pool will be empty during the day.
btw, my legs kill and i think if i chopped them off it would be nicer to fall asleep tonight. but yea guys, week one is almost done, remember to keep up these good practices until at least the end of next week before you give yourself a (small) break.
when i get in for lap swim with those huge old guys that aqua jog and all i want to do is get out, i just think of the rest of you and when we get to be back together in the pool at the end of the month! alright well i cant wait to see you all again soon and chrsitmas is closer than that, which might be a little more exciting! hahah ok nite all
gnite all!

Hiya! :)
Hey team!! I cannot tell you how much I've appreciated everyone posting those sets. Thanks Charlie, Ryan, Molly et. all!! It's almost like I'm swimming with you guys. Quick question, does anyone have any advice for a bored person? It's so loooong doing these sets with no company but little kid swim lessons, old people water aerobics and fat hairy lap-swim crawlers. Anywho, I can't wait to get back in December and do this with everyone. Love you guys!!- Rach
Update from Ben!
Did 3650 yards on Monday, and I'm not sure about Tuesday, I know it was
around the same. So over 7000 so far. I'm trying to go running in the mornings and
do the ab workouts after the running. After the team gets out I'm working with
my old coach on technique.

Back in Elsah!
Team,
I'm back in Elsah. I got up at 5:30 am and had a nice, soothing drive back down here. Then when I got back, Rackham was locked and I had to go bang on Josh's window to get him to let me in!:)
St. Louis friends, I'll see you in the morning! I've been here for about an hour now and still haven't seen Mary Ann, but I'm assured she's still around. I'm glad to see that you guys are posting work outs.
I think it's so cool to know that you are doing the same workouts all across the country! I'll start posting the ones that we're doing here, but I don't want to spoil the surprise. So for now, I'm going to post them after practice.
Those of you who haven't posted anything on here yet, please let us know you're alive. And keep in touch with each other. I still haven't received email addresses from Randi or Jeff Ball. They don't even know about the blog!
Have fun with the kicking and remember that your metaphysical work is as important to us as the yards you're doing. Please keep doing your daily work!
Lots of love,
Jenny
Masters practices
Hey team, Jamie here. I've been working out with a local masters group in addition to the STL team members' practices, and for people Coach's age or so, these guys can be pretty intense. Some of the people in the lanes next to me this morning were doing sets on a 1:10 100 base (probably about what Ryan goes) and getting lots of rest! Anyway, here are some of the workouts I've done so far:
Tuesday morning: 4250 yards
1 x 500 free
1 x 200 IM kick
8 x 75 odd k-dr-k on 1:30, even swim free on 1:15
1 x 750 free on 10:30
2 x 350 free on 5:15
4 x 175 free on 2:35
8 x 100 free on 1:30 (I held these under 1:20)
This morning: 4900 yards
2 x 200 free swim
3 x 100 kick
4 x 150 pull w/paddles
10 x 200 swim, odd all free, even choice on laps 4 and 8, on 2:50 (these kicked my butt!)
1 x 400
1 x 300
1 x 200
1 x 100
all pull w/ paddles on 15 sec rest
6 x 50 choice on :55
200 cool down
Hope that gives you some good ideas. Oh, and a note to Molly's post: the 5 200's pull we did weren't just for the girls; the guys did them too, but only the girls had paddles. :) Bye for now!

jenny's travel plan
Hello team!
So, for anyone who wants to know, I will be heading back to Elsah tomorrow (Tuesday). Mary Ann and I are going to start conducting practices at the Upper School on Wednesday for anyone in the area or anyone who wants to drive back and stay in Rackham. We'll update you with the times of those practices when we find out. I met with my club coach Al yesterday and got some really good ideas. I'm so excited about the season and all of the things we can accomplish! So, St. Louis people, you better be ready! As far as the rest of you go, Al was telling me that this time in the season is really to be preparing your base. Those of you working out on your own should be doing long warm ups (1500 yds - 2500) and then should be doing at least one hard set where you're really cranking and only getting about 3-4 sec. rest. We'll also be doing a lot of work on drills and getting the most efficiency out of your strokes.
To recap, I'll be in Elsah tomorrow afternoon/evening and staying there until the 11 or 12 of December. Feel free to email, call, or whatever if you have questions! Remember on Wednesday to email Mary Ann and myself the workouts and metaphysical work you've done since we parted. Thanks!
Love you,
Jenny
YO
team, ryan
haha yo! finally im back in connecticut!!! what a pain it was to drive in thanksgiving traffic yesterday but it feels damn nice to be back at home for now. i think i might be crazy enough to actually go swimming today. yes, thats right, swimming TODAY! for those of you who havnt yet, now is a good time to get yourself into a pool. remember keep that swimming base in you, it goes away faster than you can imagine.

greetings from the great north
Hey guys! I just want those of you in California and Florida to know that it snowed at my house yesterday! We had 3 inches! Anyway, I'm off to talk with my club coach today and then I plan to hit up Barnes and Noble or the library for swimming books. I plan to be back in Elsah on Tuesday. Hope you are all doing well and Charlie, I'm glad to hear that you and Chris made it! Can't wait to see you all! Lots of love, Jenny

Hey guys, I know you had a nice Thanksgiving Day and hopefully ate well and rested well too.
I was doing some studying this am and really liked a couple of things in Prose Works.
In Christian Healing P. 10, it says, "If you wish to be happy, argue with yourself on the side of happiness; take the side you wish to carry, and be careful not to talk on both sides, or to argue stronger for sorrow than for joy. You are the attorney for the case, and will win or lose according to your plea."
And in Miscellany p 116 the chapter is on Personality and the article is called Personal Contagion. I know I have read this, but it hit home to me today as something to be aware of. You need to read it, but here are a few nuggets from it. "In time of religious or scientific prosperity, certain individuals are inclined to cling to the personality of its leader. This state of mind is sickly; it is a contaion - a mental malady, which must be met and overcome. Why? Because it would dethrone the 1st commandment, Thou shalt have one God." and "Forgetting divine Principle brings on this contaion. Its symptoms are based upon personal sight or sense.....every loss in grace and growth spiritual, since time began, has come from injustice and personal contagion."
So - make sure we move past personality, personal sense. I am pretty confident that personal sense has never helped limitless living!
Much love,
MA
YESSS
YESSS...this is sooo good. We are all going to soar through this with flying colors. We will hit the ground running and get in the pool in January and boom. go. I love you all!
Happy day after Thanksgiving!
Welcome to the Principia Swimming and Diving blog!
Mary Ann and I (Jenny) are setting this up to serve as a place for you to post your thoughts throughout this break and to serve as a place where we can track both your physical workouts and your metaphysical work.
Any team member can post comments on here and Mary Ann and I will hopefully be putting up some sort of workout schedule for you all soon. In the mean time, be writing down your workouts so that you can email them to us once a week (if not more often). We will expect you to send us an updated of your yardage and metaphysical thoughts every Wednesday by noon (to: mas@prin.edu and jcmoeller@gmail.com).
By Wednesday night or Thursday morning, we will have all of your updates posted and you will be responsible to your team if you aren't working out enough or if you haven't sent in your update.
This is an AWESOME opportunity for spiritual growth. Let's remember that God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. I was thinking a lot about all of the people in the Bible that have gone through difficult situations, and it seems to be a theme that, humanly speaking, the least qualified individual is the one God appoints for the task. Moses had a fear of public speaking and yet God chose him to lead the people out of Egypt. David was the smallest of all his brothers and yet, he was the one who slew Goliath. Where human strength is the least, God's power is the greatest. Let us humble ourselves before God and show what Love can accomplish!
Here are two thoughts I'd like to leave you with for now. The first is a quote written on the second page of our blue swim bible. It says,
"Trust is the emotional glue that holds every team together... in times of trial, it transforms a group of committed individuals into a team of individuals committed to each other."
Let us work to trust each other and to show what a team committed to each other can look like. And secondly, from Prose Works:
"Faithfully and more than ever persistently, you are now, through the providence of God, called to do your part wisely and to let your faith be known by your works. All that we ask of any people is to judge our doctrine by its fruits." - My. 148:1-5
Christian Science works in EVERY situation and we can be the living proof that all things are possible to God. Mary Ann and I look forward to reading your entries and hearing what you're learning! Please shoot us an email or give us a call if you have any questions.
As always, lots of love,
Jenny
